M20 | Kent | Incident | Eastbound | Road Closed

Road users
are advised that the coastbound M20 in Kent is closed between junction 11
(Hythe) and junction 12 (Folkestone) due to an ongoing serious traffic
incident.

Drivers
heading to the Channel Tunnel are advised that access via junction 11a is
currently not available.

The
incident, involving a lorry and a van, happened about 4.30pm. Highways England
is working hard with partners including the emergency services to re-open the
M20 as soon as safely possible.

Traffic on
the coastbound M20 is being diverted at Junction 11 onto to A20 towards
Folkestone and will remain on the A20 until junction 12 where it will re-join
the M20.

Freight
traffic heading towards the Port of Dover is strongly encouraged to follow this
diversion and re-join the M20 at junction 12 – and not to use the M2/A2 as an
alternative.

Tourist
traffic heading to the port of Dover is advised to use the A2/M2.

The
Londonbound carriageway was briefly closed to allow for the Kent Air Ambulance
to attend the scene of the incident. It has since reopened.

Highways
England traffic officers are working hard to release the traffic on the M20
between junctions 11 and the incident as soon as possible.
